Week of November 12!

All week: Please bring food for the food pantry.

Class News:

Thanks to Mr. Tom Greaves for reading to the third graders.

Reading: We continue to read Sarah, Plain & Tall.

Math: This week we will be working on multiplying 1 digit by 2 & 3 digits.  Keep working on those multiplication facts.

Science: We continue our study of sound focusing on what parts of our body are used to hear and speak. Does anyone have a tuning fork they would be willing to let us use for experiments?

Writing project: We are starting an explanatory writing project at school.  We will write the entire paper at school but then will ask you to help your child prepare a speech at home.  This will happen after Thanksgiving.  You might help suggest some explanatory writing topics with your child that would be easy to do as a speech.  For example, how to make a pb&j sandwich, how to wrap a present, how to throw a football, etc..  The simpler the better for the third graders.

Soccer: We had a request at parent/teacher conferences to let the girls play soccer a couple days a week.  So Monday and Wednesday the boys will play soccer and on Tuesday and Thursday the girls will play soccer.  We will alternate on Fridays.  We will be flexible as we start this new recess routine so please be patient.
