Class News:

Reading - This week we will start the classic Sarah, Plain and Tall.  This book tell the story of life on the prairie.  We will focus on vocabulary words and comprehension. 

Math - On Friday we will have a multiplication vocabulary quiz.  The students are bringing home a green sheet today with all of the vocabulary words and math examples.  The students will be expected to identify either the definition or the math example.  Our spelling words are also 10 of the vocabulary words.   Also, Gretchen has talked with Karen McDonald, After school supervisor, and told her that the third graders are allowed to count their multiplication practice in after school.  The after school teachers can sign the log sheet/planner if they witnessed third graders practicing. 

Science - We are beginning our Sound unit. There is a chapter in our Science book so the children may want to bring home their books from time to time during the unit. Today we had some fun with our flubber!

Social Studies - This week we will continue our study of government.  We will talk about the election and the three branches of government.   We also ask you to return the names of any Veterans in your family.  The names can be of people living or deceased.  Please return the names by Wednesday.
