Class News:
Reading - We are reading The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman. This Newberry Award winning book is a great adventure of two boys and their road to friendship. It is rich in vocabulary. and a fun book to read.
Math - We will continue to work on 2 & 3 digit by 1 digit multiplication this week. Third graders worked hard last week when we began this concept.
Science - This week we begin our unit on the Solar System. Students are excited about this and have many stories and " facts" to share.
Language - We are working on our explanatory writing piece of work at school. These will be turned into speeches and students will give those speeches the week of April 13 and 20.
We are progressing with grammar, learning about pronouns and possessive pronouns, and learning how to diagram longer and more complicated sentences.
We are now doing a whole Wordly Wise lesson in one week. This week it is lesson 12, next week there will be no Wordly Wise due to standardized testing. The week after that, week beginning April 20, we will complete lesson 13.
