Eucharist Chapel is Friday. Father Stan will talk with the third graders about this on Wednesday. A paper will come home with your child so please go over all of the options. Please let Father Stan know if you have any questions.
Drinks on Friday - Starting in third grade students are allowed to bring 75c for a drink at Friday's lunch. The drink options are Gatorade or Izzie. This is completely optional. The money supports student council.
Wordly Wise - The third grade spelling program this year is a vocabulary based program. We will work on each set of words for two weeks. The first week we will work on meaning and applications of the words, culminating in the reading of a passage containing the words and answering questions on the passage. The second week we will concentrate on memorizing the spelling of the words with a spelling test on that Friday. We began the first lesson today, Monday, August 24th. The students will write the words in their planners too. We will also include the words on the blog each week. We will include the link to Spelling City and to Wordly Wise so your child can practice the spelling and meaning of the words.
Students can bring home their Wordly Wise books for review, however they need them at school daily.
Summer reading - By Thursday, we would like your child to have made a list of all the books he/she read throughout the summer. We realize your child may not remember every book so we ask they do their best in listing the books.
* Please return the Tell Me About Your Child form this week. Hyperlinked is an electronic copy you may download and edit if you prefer. This information helps us know your child better.
* Each night your third grade will bring home his/her planner (assignment book). Please go over it with your child and sign it after you know he/she did his/her homework. It is a good organizational tool which will help your student prepare for the day. Students can add personal information like piano or soccer.
Curriculum Night: We are really looking forward to presenting the third grade curriculum to you next Thursday evening. We will also share information about third grade activities, and of course there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
