Class news:
Reading - We are reading The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. The story is filled with the wonderful Herdman family that provides wonderful characters and a lot of laughs.
Math - the next couple of weeks we will focus on the concept of multiplication by playing games. At the same time we will focus on word problems and all the different ways to solve them.
Science - We have finished the moon phases section of our Space unit and are having fun with the constellations. We will begin studying the planets this week. We will not have the final test for this unit until after the holidays.
Social Studies - every third grader has received their Christmas Crisscross paper. This was explained in last week's blog. Each third grader will complete at least three Christmas activities with a wide variety of choices. All students will complete the middle square which is researching another country's Christmas customs. We want most of the work to be completed at school but some minor things like research on the Internet, or gathering supplies can be completed at home. We are NOT expecting everything to be done at home. They are welcome to bring their supplies and work on projects here as well. We can supply large white paper for posters as well as construction paper.
Other News:
- On December 13,14,15 third graders will be participating in a Secret Santa activity in our classrooms. Please have your child bring 3 small gifts, one for each day for this special activity.
