Class News:
Rainforest: (Reading & Language) - We continue to work on our research papers. This week we are focusing on the behavior of each animal. We also typed our papers last Friday. The third graders did a wonderful job typing the paragraphs. We will be finishing up our layer papers this week.
Math: Miss Muller has been teaching division to both classes and will continue this week. She has done a wonderful job of teaching the basic concepts, new vocabulary, and fact families. Write out a division problem and ask your child to tell you the dividend, divisor, and the quotient. They should know the three parts of a division problem.
Science: The kids have done a great job of creating leaves and vines for our rain forest. We are working on a crossword puzzle of plant vocabulary. They will have time to work on it in class, but if they do not finish, it will be due on Wednesday. The children should know these words and their definitions.
Other important news: Please Read!!
Valentine's Day - third graders will not spend time in the classroom decorating a box. Several third graders asked if they could use last year's box and the answer is yes!! If you do not have the time to decorate a box then please send a bag with your child's name on it. Also, it is up to you and your child if you want to make Valentines for both classes or just his/her homeroom. We ask that you put names on all the Valentines to make it easier to pass out and to make sure you give a Valentine to everyone.
Rainforest -
- The rainforest looks awesome! Thank you to all the parents who helped construct it last week. We had so many parents that if we named them we know we would forget someone. The kids love watching the rainforest construction. Please feel free to bring in your animals starting Thursday. They all need to be here by Valentine's Day!
- Thank you to all the parents who sent in addresses for the Rainforest Open House. We will be addressing envelopes on Wednesday so if you haven't sent any addresses then your deadline is Wednesday. Remember - you can send the addresses on the green paper or via email.
