Class News:

Rainforest (Reading & Language) -this week will be finishing our paragraphs about our rainforest animals.  We will also write the introduction and conclusion.  We will continue to type our paragraphs on the laptops.  We will begin our rainforest poetry unit.  We will use all the information we have learned about each animal and put it into poems.

Math - We will continue working on division.  The students did an awesome job writing division word problems.  Please continue to study the multiplication facts.  We will start testing facts next week.

Science - The students are continuing to study and watch video clips of the Rain Forest and see actual pictures of the devastation deforestation can cause. The words on the Spelling lists this week and last are vocabulary words they will need to know for Science as well. Ask them about Chico Mendes. Theys hould be able to tell you how he tried to preserve the Rain Forest.

Rainforest News - thank you to everyone for sending addresses for the open house.  The invitations were mailed last Friday.  Please know that if someone cannot make it on the day of the open house we are happy to accommodate their schedule.Email your child's teacher to set up a time when his/her visitor can come on another day and time.  The students love showing their family and friends around so don't hesitate to contact us.  

Field trip - this Thursday we will be going to the Kaufman Center to see Sounds of Science.  All we need from your child is their best behavior.

Weather - if this snowy weather sticks around please send boots or another pair of shoes with your child so we can go outside for recess.  We really don't want students to sit all afternoon with wet feet.
