Class News:

Reading - We continue to read The Chocolate Touch.  We should finish this week and take a test over it in class.

Math - This week we will begin decimals.  We will make the connection between decimals and fractions. The students have been improving on their multiplication tests.  We had an interesting conversation last week when the third graders admitted that they improved because they studied. We will try to do three multiplication tests this week.  Thanks for helping your child practice.

Science - Today we discussed Ferris Wheels and Roller Coasters. What is kinetic energy? What is potential energy? We will add levers this week to our study of simple machines.


Other news:

* On Friday we will go to The Lit Fest at Rockhurst University.  As with our previous field trips, we don't send permission slips home but use the one you signed at the beginning of the year.  This is your notice that we are going on a field trip.

* Next week are parent/teacher conferences.  We look forward to meeting with you.
