Class News:

Reading - We are reading a nonfiction book, If I Traveled West in a Covered Wagon.  This book tells what life was like on The Oregon Trail.

Math - We will start the all important multiplication unit this week.  This week we will focus on the concept of multiplication and vocabulary words.  We continue to work on problem solving weekly with focus on a different strategy each week.

Science: We have discussed all the systems of the human body.  We will now focus on the human body and start learning the names of the bones.  Also, we hope to harvest some of our crop this week and give it to the food pantry.

Handwriting: We have started our cursive handwriting unit and are focusing on the simple strokes.  We work out of a handwriting book so you may not see anything come home using cursive.

The Buddy Run:  The toddler teachers have decided that the toddlers won't participate in the buddy run.  However, we will run anyway with our toddlers on our hearts.  Each child will have a picture of their buddy pinned to their shirt.  Then at 10:00 we will go over to our buddies and have some fun getting to know them.  Then on Monday, October 22 we will spend time with  our buddies during their pumpkin patch activity.  (No worries - the third graders will still run both the short course and long course on Friday.)
