It was great to meet with so many of you at conferences on Thursday and Friday. Thanks for your continued support.
All things rainforest - We are finishing our research reports, our rainforerst poetry books and we are memorizing our animals facts and giving tours.
Reading- We will continue reading The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling.
Math - This week we are going to revisit elapsed time. This can be a tricky concept for students. We will also be working on multiplying two digits by one digit.
Science - We are thinking about why we might want to save the rainforests of the world and how we might play a part in that!
A note about the rainforest - We know that many visitors cannot come to the Rainforest Open House on Thursday, March 6. You are welcome to email your teacher and set up another time for a visitor to see our rainforest. We can be very flexible except during lunchtime and special classes. Also, every student in the school will be given the opportunity to have his/her brother or sister take them on a rainforest tour. If your child is sick or absent the day his/her class tours the rainforest then we will make arrangements with their teacher to take a tour. Middle School has the opportunity to visit the rainforest on Wednesday during their break.
* Please make sure all food is at school by 10:30. We will have tables ready so you can send the food with your child in the morning.
* We are asking third graders to dress nicely on Thursday. We don't need fancy clothing but a collared shirt for the boys and a pair of nice pants or skirt for the girls is appropriate. We will watch a movie in the afternoon so they can bring a change of clothes.
*Just a reminder - Rainforest Open House is 11:30-1:00. You and your guests can come anytime in that time frame.
* Friday afternoon you are welcome to come get your animal. Rainforest deconstruction will begin next week. We will need your help deconstructing the rainforest so it is down by Spring Break.
