Tuesday, April 22nd - Technology and Your Child for parents with students in ECC-3rd
grade at 6:30pm. Drs. Kevin and Natasha Burgert will
address the challenges of parenting in the online space. They will describe sites commonly used
by our children, discuss health consequences that arise from unrestricted or
unmonitored internet use and finally, suggest practical ways to guide and
monitor your child's online life. (There will be another session for parents
with students in 4th-8th grade on Tuesday, May 6th at 6:30pm.)
On Friday, May 2nd, we will be celebrating the last event of our 50th Anniversary Celebrations: The Pillars of St. Paul’s Lunch, which will honor past rectors, trustees, heads and teachers of our school. The luncheon will be held in our school cafeteria so, for this one day, there will be no hot lunch program offered. A third grade family is providing a pizza lunch for all third graders that day, so send drinks and any other food your student might want/need. We will have a picnic or eat in the room depending on the weather.
Homework:
No assigned homework this week as we have standardized tests. See Ms. Barnes' comments below:
Our third through seventh grade students will be taking standardized tests (the ERB’s) on Monday through Thursday mornings of this week. We urge all healthy students to come on time (8:05) prepared, as we hope you are each day, with a restful night’s sleep and good breakfast behind them to encourage their best work. And we also request no absences for vacations or appointments so the tests can be completed and scored in a timely manner. Thanks.
Reading - We will finish various assignments on George's Marvelous Medicine this week. Some students may finish before other students and will read another Roald Dahl book .
Math - This week we will work on perimeter.
Science: This week we are learning about individual planets.The students will do some research in groups, then we will come together as a class and compile the information. We are going to resume gardening and have been assigned another plot in the community garden. Both classes will participate in this activity and it will not necessarily be during science class.
Social Studies: We will finish working on the three branches of government.
No new Wordly Wise lesson this week.
Demonstration Speeches
We begin the demonstration speeches next week. This week we will draw names to see who goes which day so your child can be prepared. The students can memorize their speeches or use note cards. Let us know if you have any questions.
