Class News:
Reading - this week we will continue reading the beloved classic Charlotte's Web. This book is filled with rich vocabulary and incredible characters. We will focus on character development and vocabulary. Students are also writing quotations from the novel as they read it. We will use these for an activity when we have finished reading the book.
Math - This week we will focus on finding the liquid volume of masses by using standard unit of measurement. We have two math facts test left this year. Last week we created our dream homes and found the area of each home. If you come upstairs to the second floor you can see the dream homes on the bulletin boards.
Science -This week we will continue to learn about individual planets. The students will do some research in groups, then we will come together as a class and compile the information. We will also complete the scale drawings of the planets. This has involved learning about scale, ratio, and relative size as well as using a compass to draw a circle.
On Friday, May 2nd, we will be celebrating the last event of our 50th Anniversary Celebrations: The Pillars of St. Paul’s Lunch, which will honor past rectors, trustees, heads and teachers of our school. The luncheon will be held in our school cafeteria so, for this one day, there will be no hot lunch program offered. A third grade family is providing a pizza lunch for all third graders that day, so send drinks and any other food your student might want/need. We will have a picnic or eat in the room depending on the weather.
Thanks to Mr. Davig and Mr. Willis for presenting Teach Kids to Save to all third graders. Their children were able to help out since it was Take your kids to work day.
