Reading and Social Studies- We continue reading In Their Own Words: Lewis and Clark.  We are recording important dates to put into a timeline.  The students will be learning a song about the Louisiana Purchase.  We are also working on coloring a map which shows the U. S. before and after 1803.

Math - This week we will be working on subtracting with zeroes.  The important lesson here is that you can only go next door to borrow from your neighbor.  This week is the first Morning Math Session at 7:45.  Please come to Ms. Beilharz's room to play math games and have some fun.

Science - We will spend one day working on the ipads on a Discovery Kids plant app, and then return to our unit on Sound. We will be addressing questions such as what causes sound? and  how does sound travel?


Language- We will be working on nouns this week, what is a noun, common and proper, singular and plural nouns.
In grammar we will keep singing grammar jingles and continue to classify sentences. We do a lot of this as a class together and we will be working towards greater independence.
In writing we will do some Halloween writing.



On Friday, October 10 the third grade will be going to Mahaffie Farm in Olathe.  We will leave right after all school chapel. If you would like your child to have a cold lunch made by the school, please email your child's teacher by Friday, October 3.  If you don't order a school lunch then you will need to send a cold lunch with your child that includes a drink and utensils.
