Reading -   We have begun reading Lewis and Clark by George Sullivan. This is a non fiction book that takes actual quotes from their journal, and we will have various activities relating to this book, for example maps, a song, and a timeline.

Social Studies- Lewis and Clark will be the focus of our Social Studies for the next few weeks.


Math - We will work on subtracting with borrowing this week.  This will include 2, 3, and 4 digit numbers.  Thursday, October 2 at 7:45 will be the first Morning Math in Ms. Beilharz's room.  This is completely optional.  As we talked about at Curriculum Night, this is a time to come play math games and have some fun.  A Sign Up Genius for treats will be coming out this week.

Science- Our plant unit draws to a close with the test on Tuesday. You can access the Science textbook from the information we sent at the beginning of September "Useful Websites for 3rd grade". We will continue to monitor growth of our plants in the garden and tend to it from time to time.
We will then move on to a unit on sound.

Language Arts: We are finishing up with sentences, combining sentences and correcting run on sentences, Then we will move on to nouns.
In Grammar we continue classifying sentences and practicing the six jingles we have learned. Clearly there is a lot of overlap with the Grammar program and the L.A. textbook. This is good as we hope it will reinforce the learning and help the students understand the grammar in different contexts.

BRING A  SACK LUNCH
