Class News
Reading, Social Studies, Writing - We will finish reading If You Traveled West in a Covered Wagon, complete comprehension questions, and students will write a journal from the perspective of a child traveling west  with his/her family.

Math - We continue to work on multiplication.  Our quiz is tomorrow.  This week our focus will be on learning  multiplication facts. We will be looking at patterns and understanding how those patterns can help us memorize our facts.


Science - Students will continue to study the skeletal system, assembling a card skeleton and checking to see if they have all the bones in the right place! Students have a list of all the bones they need to memorize for a test on Friday, November 21.  We will also study our opposable thumbs, and we will also start looking at the different kinds of  joints humans have.

Grammar - We are learning two new jingles this week about the preposition.


Oregon Trail Days is Thursday, November 13. Third graders will spend the morning participating in activities from pioneer days.  We encourage all students to dress according to the era. Boys - jeans, plaid shirts, bandannas, hats, boots are appropriate.  Girls - if you don't have an old fashion dress then usually a long skirt, apron, white blouse, bonnet or hat, and boots work together.Please don't stress about the outfit but have some fun.    After we participate in the pioneer activities  and bartering we will have lunch in the commons.  Parents are invited to lunch. 

Please feel free to send your food in early on Thursday.  We will have tables and outlets for crock pots and we can refrigerate foods,too.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Day School’s Annual Food Drive

In Support of the Church Food Pantry

November 12-November 21

·         Each day, Student Council representatives will receive donations in the front hallway of the school. 

·         Each student’s class will earn points for their offerings.  The homeroom from each division (ECC-2^nd, 3^rd-5^th, and MS) that collects the most needed items will proudly display the “St. Paul’s Spirit Award” banner.

·         While all items will be received each day, BONUS POINTS will be given for selected items on selected days.

Needed Items

Canned vegetables and fruit [15-16 oz. cans]: green beans, any canned beans, corn, any canned fruit, peas, spinach, tomatoes

Canned Meats: tuna (5-6 oz.), salmon or other canned fish (16 oz.), Vienna sausage, Span, Corned beef

Canned soups/meals [15-16 oz. cans]: condensed and other canned soups, beef stew, Chili, Beanie-Weenies, Spaghetti-Os, canned pastas

Peanut Butter & Jelly [12-18 oz. jars]

Pasta, Dry Beans, Rice: mac ‘n cheese, spaghetti/ pasta noodles (16 oz.), Ramen, Hamburger Helper, dry beans (15-16 oz.), rice (15-16 oz)

Box or Packaged Cereal

Toilet tissue  [Larger bundles preferred]

Wednesday, Nov. 12:  Triple points for BULK canned vegetables and fruits

Thursday, Nov. 13:  Double points for canned meats

Friday, Nov. 14:  Double points for canned soups/meals (5 extra points if you are also wearing spirit wear)

Tuesday, Nov. 18:  Double points for pasta, dry beans, and rice

Wednesday, Nov. 19:  Triple points for box or packaged cereal

Thursday, Nov. 20:  Double points for toilet paper (counted by roll) and personal hygiene items
