Monday, December 15-Thursday, December 8:05-8:25a.m. Carols around the Christmas Tree in the lobby and on Friday, December 19 from 8:05-8:25 a.m.The Dickinson Carolers will be singing around campus.

Monday, December 15- Thursday, December 18: Students can bring in a family ornament that they have made for the Christmas tree in the commons. Students' musical offerings continue this week in chapel. Parents are very welcome to join us for these and indeed for any chapel.

Monday, December 15- Wednesday, December 17 Lower School Service Project-Bring in a small inexpensive stocking stuffer to donate to the St. Paul's Food Pantry.  These will be given to families so that their children have something in their stockings on Christmas morning. 

Tuesday, December 16 - Thursday, December 18  Secret Santa. Each student has the name of the student for whom he/she is buying. The three gifts combined should not cost more than $5. Each of the three days each student should bring in a gift with only the recipient's name on it. They will be passed out later in the day.

Friday, December 19  3rd-8th grade Eucharist Chapel and FEED THE NEED 
Friday, December 19 Ice Skating at Line Creek. Students can bring up to $3 to spend on snacks. 
Friday, December 19  Afternoon movie and Christmas Party

Class News:

Reading -  We will finish reading The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson. Third graders have created life size Herdmans that are hanging in the commons. The students are enjoying this humorous book about a family of children who have never heard the Christmas story before they join the pageant. Students will answer some comprehension questions and explain their understanding of various events in the story in a concluding activity.

Social Studies - The students have been working very hard on their Christmas Crisscross projects.   Every student has chosen a country to study and is researching information about Christmas customs in that country. This week we will conclude these activities. Hopefully we will have some time for students to present their work.

Math - This week we will work on our 11 & 12 facts. We will keep working on memorizing our facts by playing games, singing songs, and looking for patterns.     We will start our multiplication facts tests in January. 

Science - We will conclude our studies of the human body with a look at the circulatory system. We will begin a short weather unit this week and continue with it in the first half of January.

Language - Third graders have written a persuasive letter to Santa Claus. We are also working on verb tenses.

Grammar - Prepositions continue to be our main focus this week, and we will continue to apply this knowledge to the sentences we are classifying/diagramming in class.
