Class News:
Reading - We have finished reading The Whipping Boy, and are wrapping up assignments on this novel. We will begin reading Charlotte's Web, written by E.B. White. Although many students have either read the book or have seen the movie already, we always find many skills to work on with this wonderful book that is filled with rich vocabulary and fascinating characters.
Language Arts and Grammar - Students will review pronouns and their roles in sentences. In addition, in our Shurley Grammar program students are learning about conjunctions, their role in sentences, and compound subject nouns, compound subject pronouns, compiund verbs, and compound adjectives.
Math - Students will continue to work on geometry this week, focusing on quadrilaterals, putting different shapes together to make other shapes, and slides, flips, and turns.
Science - Last week students problem solved as we collaborated on a project that we will undertake this week. Students will make a game for their toddler buddies to play, tactile dominoes. They will also finish finding facts about individual planets. Finally they will begin scale drawings of the planets. This involves learning about scale, ratio, and relative size as well as using a compass to draw a circle.
Social Studies - Students will continue their study of the three branches of government.

Morning Math: This week is the last one of the year. Thank you to all parents who have provided treats.
Music Program:
Third Grade parents –
We will be celebrating the evening of April 30th
at 7:00 p.m. with our 3rd grade showcase,
Disney:
The Movies/The Music. Students should arrive by 6:45 and meet their homeroom teacher in
the ECC commons (outside Mrs. Haskamp’s room). This is a show all about the
magic and wonder of Disney and I am asking that students wear all black, white,
and red. Girls – a suggestion is black and/or white clothing with a big
red bow in the hair or a red headband. A dress/tunic and leggings in any
combination of those colors will also work…Boys – white and/or black clothing
with a red bow tie/regular tie (tie certainly not required, just a
suggestion)…If you have black Mickey ears from Disney, I would love to have
them wear those as well (if they wish).
These
are just suggestions…feel free to be creative within our black/white/red color
scheme.
Feel
free to contact me with any questions!
Thanks,
Thanks,
Tamara
