Calendar:
Wednesday, September 9: Students first Homework Challenge, Penny Timeline, is due!
Class News:
Language Arts - We continue to work on sentences, the four different types, and we will also be studying subjects and predicates. In grammar we are working on memorization of four jingles, the sentence, the noun, the verb, and the adverb. Students are also learning how to classify/diagram sentences.
Math - This week we are continuing our work on Place Value. Students will learn the difference between place value and value. We will write these words and their definition in our math spiral and look at examples of both. Students will also begin to work on rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000 and 10,000.
Science - We continue with our plant unit this week, learning about the main parts of a plant, the function of leaves, roots, and stems. Weather permitting we should be able to do some planting in pots in the school garden.
If anyone has some spare pots and/or soil they could donate, that would be wonderful.
Social Studies - The new Social Studies textbook will be introduced to students this week, and we will learn about communities.
