Class News:
Reading and Social Studies:
This week students will complete their assignments on Lewis and Clark, as we finish reading the concluding chapters. Students are fully immersed in the Lewis and Clark journey! They will complete their own Lewis and Clark journal of animals and plant life that the explorers discovered on their way, and make a Lewis and Clark timeline.
Math:
Students will begin working on the concept of multiplication. Students will see how addition facts play a role in the fundamentals of multiplication. It is important for students to continue working on their addition facts. The stronger their knowledge of these facts the more this will help them with their introduction of multiplication. I encourage students to work on the new reflex math website! This is a great reinforcement to strengthen skills in addition and subtraction and to promote successful progress in the weeks ahead in our new multiplication unit.

Language Arts:
Students will complete their personal narratives if they have not already done so this week. They will also learn about run on sentences as well as singular and plural nouns. In Grammar we continue learning the jingles and classifying/diagraming sentences. Students should now be able to identify the subject, verb, adverbs, adjectives, article adjectives, complete subject, and complete predicate in addition to knowing the four types of sentences! Students are now able to write their own "guided sentences", labeling them with the correct parts of speech.
There are no spelling words this week as we have a three day week. We will start a new Wordly Wise lesson on Monday.
Science:
Students are enjoying the Sound Unit in science, and have already had several hands on activities with this unit. This week we will ask, "How Does Sound Travel?, How are Sounds Different?, and How Is Sound Absorbed and Reflected?"
