Class News:
Reading - We are finishing If I Traveled West in a Covered Wagon. Our next book will be Wagon Wheels which is a very quick book about The Homestead Act and African American pioneers. Then we will read Sarah, Plain and Tall.
Math - we will have our first math test over time and money on Tuesday, November 8. Students were given a study guide last week. Students need to make sure to write answers correctly. If a money answer doesn't have a dollar sign and/or a decimal point then the answer will be marked incorrect. A money answer cannot be correct when it doesn't have the correct symbols. After time and money, we will work on data and probability.
Science - We will still work on the human body. This week we will focus on how to keep our bodies healthy and the circulatory system. The students did really well on their science test. We are really proud of how hard they worked to learn the names of the bones.
Language - Students are writing a historical fiction story about life on The Oregon Trail. Each student will create a character and will write a fictional journal based on things they have learned about the life as a young child in a covered wagon.
Oregon Trail - Barter Day - Thursday, November 17 at 11:00 (before pioneer lunch)
Students are allowed to bring 2 or 3 items to trade. They will not get these items back!!
Each item should not be worth more than $3.00
These items should not be new. They should be items you have at home that you no longer want or use.
Look for a blog post this week with pictures from October.
