Class News:

Rainforest -  We continue to research and become experts on our animals.  The students did a nice job researching the habitats of their animals.  This week we will finish up our habitat paragraph and move on to our size and appearance paragraph.  We continue to work on our layer paper which describes each layer of the rainforest.

Math - We will finish our multiplication unit this week.  We have been studying some multiplication vocabulary.  We also will continue working on missing factors and other algebraic concepts.  Finally, we will work on our 11 & 12 facts.

Science - We are studying rainforest plants in science and finding the variety is as plentiful as the animals we are researching!

Calling all volunteers!!!  We are constructing our rainforest.  We ask the parents to help put up green paper, leaves and vines.  Some leaves and vines are recycled from previous years.  This is a very flexible time for you to volunteer.  The only time you cannot be in the commons is during our chapel from 8:25 - 8:45 or after the building has closed for the night.  You can come before, during, or after school.  We have all of the supplies that you need except for the courage to climb the ladder to hang leaves and vines on the ceiling.  The time goes faster if you work with a friend.   One person can hands the leaves and pins to the person on the ladder who will then hang them on the ceiling.  This isn't necessary, but it helps. Right now we only have one ladder, but are checking into getting another one.  Once the leaves are all hung, we will start hanging the vines.  We would really appreciate your help during the next couple of weeks.  We like to have all the vines and leaves hung by the time the animals come in on Tuesday, February 14.  Please email either Gretchen or Lisa when you are coming in so we don't have too many at once.  However, if you are in the building and have some extra time, please feel free to come upstairs to help.
