Other News:

Christmas program on Thursday night - On the way to practice today one student said that she felt so grown up having a program at night.  The program is a wonderful way to get in the spirit of Christmas.  The students need to be at the church by 6:40.  We will meet them in the basement of the  church.  Mrs. Everly sent a note home last week telling the student what to wear.  Basically, it is church type clothes that are the Christmas colors or jewel tones.  Black and white are also an option.

Field Trip on Friday - We will be going to the Nutcracker on Friday.  Please do not have your child wear sweat pants or a jersey on Friday.  Also, students need to bring a cold lunch unless you signed up for a hot lunch.

Spelling - Due to Christmas practice, a late night Thursday, and a field trip on Friday, we will not have spelling words this week.

Read for 2013 - On Friday the entire Lower School will be reading for 2013 seconds which comes to a little over 30 minutes.  We will begin at 2:30 and then have cookies and hot cocoa.  Please make sure your child has a book for this special event.

Christmas ornaments - We are asking each student to make a Christmas ornament for our tree in the second floor commons.  It is nice to have a picture of the student or student's family on the ornament.  The child will hang the ornament on the tree and say a wish for Christmas.  Please discuss the wish with your child.  For example, a wish may be that everyone has shelter during the Christmas season.  The students can bring the ornament anytime in the next three weeks.

Musical offerings - Each 3-5 grade student is welcome to share a musical offering during the Christmas season.  Your child needs to sign up with Mrs. Watt.  You are always invited to chapel but we encourage you to come when your child is performing.

Shoebox Christmas - please read the information below!

SHOEBOX CHRISTMAS 2012
Has become New Year’s Zipped Up!

It has become a tradition at St. Paul’s for classes to bring toiletries for the patrons of the Church Pantry at Christmastime. The previous Shoebox Christmas has become Zipping into the New Year and is sponsored by the entire Lower School division, Grades One through Five.  Your donated items will be packed with care into clear bags, and delivered as expressions of good will. Each student is invited to bring one or more items in the grade level choice. We will be very grateful if you also choose to send a compliment of gallon size Ziploc bags!
Here is the suggested list:

Third Grade:
Body wash (travel size) or bar soap, or  deodorant (normal size not over sized)

We are so very grateful for your participation and generosity.  Thank you so very much.   Gingie Watt      Division
