This Friday, Sept. 27th,  is both Spirit Day and Pet Blessing Day, if the weather cooperates!  Please note that, due to our limited space, only students in kindergarten, first and second grades may bring live pets.  ECC students bring stuffed animals and third through eighth grade students may bring pictures of their pets. The chapel service will begin at 8:30 on the upper field.


Class News

Today Mrs. Thompson's class met their toddler buddies, and on Tuesday Ms. Beilharz's class will meet their toddler buddies. Third graders are very excited about being the older buddies and we know they will be great buddies and role models for our younger friends!

Reading
We have begun reading Lewis and Clark by George Sullivan, and have already learned about the Louisiana Purchase.We will have various activities relating to this book, for example maps, a song, and a timeline.

Math 
This week we will focus on addition with carrying/regrouping.  Ms. Beilharz uses both of these terms so the students should be familiar with both of them by the end of the week.  We will also start working on solving problems by drawing a picture or using  a table.  Morning Math Session starts Thursday,October 3 at 7:45.  This is a fun way for third graders to learn to love math.  A Sign up Genius will be sent out this week to bring a treat.

Science
We are concluding work on posters about plants, we have the science test tomorrow, Tuesday, and we will continue observing the growth of our vegetables in the community garden. In addition we will begin a new unit on Sound.

Language Arts
We will certainly finish the personal narratives this week, move on to lesson 3 in Wordly Wise, and learn more about nouns.

Handwriting
We thought you'd like to know how much the students are enjoying learning cursive handwriting.
