Class News:

Reading - We continue to read In Their Own Words: Lewis and Clark.  We are working on vocabulary words and pulling interesting facts out of a non-fiction text.  We are working on a timeline of the important  dates throughout the expedition.

Language - This week we will continue working on nouns with the focus on plural nouns, proper nouns and capitalization.

Math - This week we will focus on subtraction with borrowing.  The first couple of days will be a review then we will focus on subtraction with zeroes. For those practicing their basic math facts, Ms. Beilharz wants everyone focusing on subtraction.  Don't forget Morning Math Session at 7:45 on Thursday.  This is a way to work on basic math in a fun setting. 

Science - This week we will be learning about what causes sound and how sound travels.
Of course we will also be keeping an eye on our garden. The vegetables are growing well. All that rain on Saturday was helpful!

Field Trip - On Friday, October 18 we will go to Mahaffie Farm in Olathe.  This is a working farm that has numerous activities from the time period of  pioneer days  We will be gone all day long.  Since you already signed a field trip permission slip on file with the school, we will not be sending another one home.  This is your acknowledgement we will be going on a field trip.  Please let your child's teacher know if you want them to have a school lunch that day.  We need to know by Friday, October 4.
