Class News:
Reading/Social Studies - We will finish If I Travel in A Covered Wagon this week and move on to two shorter books about Westward Expansion. We will read Wagon Wheels and Dakota Dugout. The students are also working on their Oregon Trail Book list which is an independent activity and encourages everyone to read at their reading level and their interest level.
Math - On Thursday the third graders will take a vocab test over multiplication words and concepts. A paper was sent home last Thursday that had all of the words and definitions. A word bank will be given so students so they do not need to remember the spelling but since the words are on the test Ms. Beilharz will expect correct spelling. We will focus on associative and distributive properties this week. Also, today a paper with the 2, 5, and 10 facts test will be coming home. If a fact has a check or an X by the problem then the student knows the problem. If it is left blank then the students needs to study that fact. They will be retested on Friday. For the students who have passed the 2,5, and 10 facts tests, they need to work on the 3 & 4 facts this week. A test will be given on Friday over these facts. Thank you so much for helping your child memorize the facts. It is vital for students to memorize all multiplication facts by the end of third grade.
Science - We will begin studying the human body this week. We will begin by studying the bones of the body. Mrs. Thompson was very pleased with the overall results of the Science tests. Thanks for your support helping your students to study.
Cold Weather - It sounds like the weather will be getting colder so please send appropriate coats, hats, and gloves with your child each day. We go outside as much as possible and third graders need to be dressed appropriately.
