Class News:
Language Arts, Reading, Social Studies: In each of these subjects we will be studying the rain forest, the animals and the layers of the rain forest. This week we will concentrate on the size and appearance of the animals as students begin their research.

Science: The students will continue studying 2 chapters in the Science textbook; Ecosystems, then Plants and Animals Living Together. This gives them some background information to understand the rain forest and the animals in it as we study them.

Math: This week in math we will focus on fractional parts of a set.  For example, 1/4 of 12 = 3.  We will use manipulatives to understand and then do the equation without any manipulatives.  Later in the week we will use number lines to locate fractions.  Ask your third grader to explain the game I have, Who has.  This has been a great game to reinforce recognizing and naming  fractions.  We will keep working on 0-6 facts this since it is a short week.
