Calendar:
Tuesday, December 2 and Wednesday December 3: Morning rehearsals for Thursday's Christmas program
Tuesday, December 2 onwards: Students can bring in a family ornament they have made for the Christmas tree in the commons. Students hang these after chapel, make a wish for the world aloud, and take a candy cane.
Thursday, December 4, 7p.m.: 3rd-5th Christmas Program in the church. Students should be in the undercroft at 6:40 p.m. (see December blog for more information on what students should wear.)
Friday, December 5: 1:10-1:45 READ for 2015 in the commons. Students should have enough to read for the 35 minutes. Students can bring a pillow/stuffed toy if they wish.
Friday, December 5: Book orders are due
Monday, December 1 - Tuesday, December 16 : Lower School Service Project - Bring in a small inexpensive stocking stuffer to donate to the St. Paul's Food Pantry. These will be given to families so that their children have something in their stockings on Christmas morning.
Thursday, December 11: 3rd grade field trip, The Nutcracker at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts

Class News:
Reading - This week we will begin reading The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson. This humorous tale involves the Herdman children and how they learn about the story of Christmas. We will work on vocabulary, character development, and comprehension.
Social Studies - Over the next three weeks we will be working on studying Christmas customs around the world. Almost all of the work will be done at school. We encourage students to bring customs from their culture to share with the class.
Math - This week we continue to learn our multiplication facts. Our focus will be on the 7,8, & 9 facts. We are learning songs to help us memorize these facts. You can help your child at home by having them sing the songs to you or play some of the card games that were handed out in a packet on Curriculum Night. Also, on the right hand side of the blog are recommended apps and websites. We will start our multiplication facts tests in January.
Science - We will continue studying the human body and this week our focus will mainly be on muscles. Most students did very well on the Bones Test. Well Done, students. Not only did students learn the names of many bones, but they also learned that studying pays off.
Grammar - Prepositions continue to be our main focus this week, and we will continue to apply this knowledge to the sentences we are classifying/diagramming in class.
