Class News:
Reading - This week we will finish reading The Chocolate Touch and complete some activities related to it. We will then begin The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman, an adventurous tale in times gone by. A poor boy and a prince, who have nothing in common, end up having to trust each other when they run away together!
Math - this week in math we will continue to work on mixed numbers. We will review what a mixed number is and add/subtract mixed numbers with like denominators. We will not have a multiplication/division test this week but will have one on Thursday, April 2.
Science - Students will continue to learn about patterns in the sky, in particular, "Why does the Moon's shape change?" and "Star Patterns".
Language - We will start writing our explanatory writing project this week. Each student will choose something that he/she would like to explain how to do, and we will work through the process to include step by step directions,clear details, correct sequencing, then revise and proofread before the final copy. We will also review verbs, different verb tenses for both regular and irregular verbs.
Grammar- This week we will review the pronoun jingle and learn the possessive pronoun jingle, and they will now be included in the sentence diagramming/classifying.
