Class News:
Reading and Social Studies:
Students continue their journey through the Pioneer Days. Students will focus on the Oregon Trail. Students will continue to read If I Traveled West in a Covered Wagon answering comprehension questins as they read. This non fiction book tells about life on the Oregon Trail, and students will learn about what pioneers took with them, who went, who was in charge, and hardships on the journey. Mr. N. provides books from the library about pioneer life. Third graders will read these books independently, writing down interesting facts as they read. This week students have the opportunity of living trail life on Thursday!
Math:
This week in math we are focusing on our multiplication
facts for 3’s and 4’s. Students will be working in small groups and
partner groups to reinforce multiplication fact practice. We will be
playing games with decks of cards, dice, and even using students to act out in
small skits the facts we have learned so far. Students will be taking a quiz on
Friday over multiplication facts for 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10. Below are
some helpful websites they can use to practice their facts. Please let me
know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Students who are
having difficulty or who would like extra practice with the multiplication
facts should come to my room on Tuesday mornings from 7:30-8:00 for additional
help!
