Students continue to work on grammar skills.  We will also begin introducing students to skills that will be assessed on the standardized test in April.  Students will work on practice worksheets that test student knowledge of analogies, comprehension, vocabulary, mathematics, writing concepts, and quantitative reasoning.

Reading
Students will begin reading The Chocolate Touch  by Patrick Skene Catling.  This is a story about a boy who loves chocolate so much that everything he touches turns to chocolate. Students will be working on reading comprehension and new vocabulary.

Math
Students will be introduced to the Fraction unit on Monday.  We will name some of the familiar fraction vocabulary, we will illustrate specific fractions using pictures and graphing paper, students will work on naming fractions they see in common flags around the world, and by the end of the week students will complete their own flag with fractions of different colors and shapes.
